Outstanding Rookies are Honored
HCAR is proud to honor some outstanding rookies in our first Rookie REALTOR® competition.
The runners up for this award are the following:

- George Brookhart of Long and Foster, Ellicott City.
A recent graduate of Maryland Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy and a member of HCAR's Education committee, George not only has sold a lot of houses but is currently on his way to getting his GRI designation. He is actively involved in the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, the Catonsville Sunrise Rotary Club, Western YMCA and a guest speaker for Catonsville Senior High School.
- Kathy Lomas of Long and Foster Columbia Midtown Office.
Kathy Lomas is dedicated to "serving the people." Her goal has come full circle in Real Estate and Community Service. She participates in a stewardship program sponsored by her church and has committed herself to 20 hours a week. She is helping an elderly resident at a Health Care Unit in a Retirement Center where she also plays the piano regularly for many of the residents. She is out there selling many houses.
 - Susan Muth of Long and Foster Waverly Woods Office.
Susan Muth has come into Real Estate quickly establishing her self as a high volume agent. She was the Past President of the Dorsey's Search Women's Foundation, Past President of the Fall Festival Fundraiser at Trinity School, and is currently active in the Seton Keough Parent Association and Athletic Association. Susan and her family reside in Waverly Woods.
- Holly Pakulla of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
 Holly has come into Real Estate accomplishing so much since she began in September of 2001. She received her e-PRO Technology Certification in May of 2002, less than a year in the business. A career firefighter,
Holly is active in Christmas in April and has chaired Adopt-a-family during December. Holly also belongs to the Emerald Society who donates time, money and hands on activities within the community to rebuild lives torn apart after an accident.
The committee had a tie for the winner so is giving this award to two of our members.

- Oliver T. Henderson Sr. of Re/Max Advantage.
Oliver, chairman of the Education Committee of HCAR, is an active member of the Rookie REALTOR® Society at the Maryland Association of REALTORS®. He recently moderated a workshop that addressed technology. He is a current member of the Howard County Million Dollar Club. He has received several designations since becoming a REALTOR in 1999: ABR, SRES and Power Agent. He has completed three quarters of the course work for the GRI designation. A high volume agent, Oliver is active in his neighborhood being part of the Columbia Road Homeowners Association RAC and the Annual Luminary project. He has received the CTM (Competent Toastmaster) designation through Toastmasters. He is President of the Columbia Chapter of LeTip International Business Leads Organization.
- Gary Vreeland of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
 Gary, the very hardworking Legislative Chairman of HCAR, also serves on the State Legislative Committee and the Rookie REALTOR® Society. Although he has sold a great deal of Real Estate, he still found time to participate in the Grass Roots Committee at MAR and will be the Chairman of the New Agent Orientation Task Force for the Howard County Association of REALTORS®. He also participated in the One America diversity training at the State Association. In his community he is an Associate Member of the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Moose Lodge and Past President/Vice President/ and Secretary of the Meadowridge Landing Homeowners Association.
