The market is hot. The weather is hot. Don't complain. Your children will be back in school in three weeks!
The transition to our new management by the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® has gone relatively smoothly. Here are the answers to the three most frequently asked questions: (1) Do I have to go to Silver Spring to get my keypad and lockbox services? The answer is no. We still maintain our office in Executive House for GCAAR keypad services. You also will be able to get your board membership at Executive House. (2) Is Howard County Association of REALTORS® part of the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS®? The answer is no. We are still a stand-alone association with our own separate board of directors and committees as we have always had. (3) What is the benefit of having another association of REALTORS® manage us? Due to economies of scale derived from the new partnership, HCAR will be able to provide better services to all of you in a more efficient manner and at a lower cost.
I have visited with several offices who have asked me to speak to them personally. Any manager who wants me plus GCAAR staff people to come to their meeting, please feel free to call. Many of you who have called me have complimented the staff at GCAAR for being so courteous to them and getting back to them quickly.
The MAR convention will take place September 13-15 in Ocean City. You can take a few courses for CE credit and see our state association in action. Congratulations to our award winners who will be honored on September 14 at the MAR installation banquet: Realtor of the Year—Ann Domerchie; Distinguished Sales Associate—Barb Seely; Community Service Award—Nellie Arrington; and Affiliate of the Year—Sara Lenes. Congratulations to all of our outstanding members who participated in this competition.
Please put the following date on your calendars. Barb Seely's installation as HCAR President will be on October 22 at 8:00 a.m. at the Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville. At that time we will have our annual membership meeting as well as the awards presentation. Come and help us celebrate!
Thank you to the Social Committee for a successful trip to Atlantic City in June. A good time was had by all –particularly those who won money. Special thanks to NVR Mortgage, Lakeside Title and Amerispec for sponsoring the trip. A very special thanks to Mortgage Associates for its constant support of this association.
Many thanks to Creig Northrop who became an RPAC life member and Paul Duncan who gave generously to RPAC recently.
Beginning on August 1 the FHA Homebuyer Addendum takes effect and the VC Sheet begins on September 10. Tom Pirritano is willing to meet with any HCAR broker who needs an orientation to these forms. He will offer his services free of charge during the month of August.
Finally, I am including a letter that I received last month from Governor Glendening. I spoke about this subject matter in my April newsletter and I wanted to share the Governor's thoughts with you. I am overwhelmed by your support on this. Thank you for so many kind words.
