I find it hard to believe, but we are slowly moving towards the end of a millennium. We are in a time of change. And speaking of change, please put the following date on your calendar: Friday, October 24, 1999. This is the installation of Barb Seely as your next HCAR President which will take place in the Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville. To reserve your place at the installation, please fill out the attached form. Come and support Barb (who incidentally has served on every HCAR committee) and her new board members! The Nominating Committee, Chaired by Kay Armstrong Baker, has recommended the following slate of officers and directors to the membership:

The Education Committee is presenting a Fair Housing class on September 23 at 9 a.m. at the Oakland Mills Meeting House in Columbia. A sign-up form is attached for your use. Please remember that 1.5 hours of Fair Housing are now mandatory for license renewal. Also included is the reservation form for R.E.N.O. Day which is scheduled for Thursday, November 4. Our featured speaker will be Al Monshower, whose topic will be: "Procuring Cause and Discussion of Procuring Cause Cases." Please sign up for this opportunity to network with your fellow REALTORS®.
The Social Committee is sponsoring a dinner/dance on Saturday, November 6, at the Cattail Creek Country Club. We have not had a dinner/dance for many years and the committee promises a very special evening. A ticket reservation form is attached for your convenience. The Social Committee has worked very hard for all of us for the past two years and we are very grateful for all of their volunteer time. They are very excited about this event. Many thanks to Sara Lenes and Kathy Smith who chaired this committee this year.
Information will be forthcoming about renewing your membership in HCAR on our web site: hcar.org. Our web site has been a work in progress and we will be sending you information about dues renewal online. Blaine Milner, Treasurer, led the Budget Committee this year and the budget which was passed by your HCAR Board of Directors reflects no increase in our local dues for the third straight year! The National dues have not gone up either. The only increase occurred in the state dues which the Maryland Association of REALTORS® voted to increase.
Finally, this is the last call to remind you of the MAR Convention in Ocean City from September 13 to September 15. If you are already registered, I encourage you to come to the Installation Banquet and support our award winners and they are: Ann Domerchie, REALTOR® of the Year; Barb Seely, Distinguished Sales Associate; and Nellie Arrington, Community Service.
