I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season! Now it's time to gear up for another fantastic year in real estate!
I'd like to thank those of you who have renewed your HCAR membership and who so generously donated to RPAC. For those of you who have forgotten to renew, there is still time before your membership benefits are terminated, but you need to renew RIGHT NOW. You may renew online at www.hcar.org.
Our Education Committee has set the date for R.E.N.O. Day 2000. It will take place on Friday, November 3rd, 2000. The Social Committee has chosen Wednesday, April 26th, for our Third Annual Spring Fling and Saturday, November 4th, 2000, for the Second Annual Dinner Dance, so mark your calendars NOW. We will send more details later.
Please note that January 26, 2000, is MAR's Legislative Day in Annapolis. This is a very important day because we have the opportunity to meet with our state legislators to discuss the issues and concerns facing our industry. There will be a continuing education session with 1.5 hours of CEU's and an evening cocktail party. We'd love to have a strong showing of REALTORS® from Howard County just like we did last year. Our political leaders were impressed with our turnout.
It's time again to think about joining the Howard County Million Dollar Club. Applications are now available and the deadline is February 15. I'm told that the program committee has some very exciting educational opportunities this year. The dues are $200.00 which cover your lunches, advertising and the Club's philanthropic activities.
Don't forget that we have a class scheduled for Thursday, January 20, on the topic of Risk Management. The course is designed to help you recognize "red flags" about the listing, the contract, and the liability concerning the transactions. Each attendee will be provided with their own workbook. You may register online at www.hcar.org.
And last but not least, we have enclosed an article by our legal counsel, Al Monshower, about the lead paint issue which is facing all of us. The article addresses the enforcement policies and practices of HUD and EPA. Please read it carefully.
