Let me start by wishing all of you a Happy Valentine's Day. I hope you spent some special time with your Valentine.
On February 16, 2000, the Real Estate Commission will be holding a public hearing to discuss the proposed Broker Supervision Regulations. It is very important that we turn out in force to show the Commission that we are against the proposed changes. The hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on the 16th at the Commission office at 500 North Calvert Street in Baltimore in the 3rd floor conference room. Let's show them that the REALTORS® are concerned.
I have had a number of agents call me asking when and where GRI courses will be held in 2000. I want to let you know that you can log on to the MAR website www.mdrealtor.org and get a complete list of the upcoming GRI classes and locations. There are several being held this year, so hurry and register now!
The RPAC committee is busy planning events for the Spring of this year. We need to continue to support RPAC in order to effect the changes in legislation that will be REALTOR® friendly. Money speaks louder than words. I ask all of you to consider donating something to RPAC-the amount is up to you. Every donation is appreciated!
Legislative Day in Annapolis was cancelled in January due to the snow. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 29th, but there will be no legal update or continuing education. The MAR board of directors will meet first and then they will host an evening reception for our legislators at the Loew's in Annapolis from 6:00-8:00 PM.
The Education Committee will be sponsoring a great seminar on February 24th in conjunction with Howard County's Housing Office. Come and learn the latest changes from Leonard Vaughan and others. And mark your calendar for March 16 when HCAR will present a legal update class in the evening at the Oakland Mills Meeting House.
Just a reminder - mark your calendars now for the upcoming events. The "Spring Fling" is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26th, at Alex's in Columbia. R.E.N.O. Day 2000 is scheduled for Thursday, November 2nd, and the Dinner Dance is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st. And don't forget the MAR Annual Convention is scheduled for September 11-13 in Ocean City.
That's all for now! Think Spring!
