The Spring Fling 2000 was a great success! It was good to see so many of our members enjoying themselves in the middle of what has been a wonderful Spring real estate market in Howard County. Many thanks to the Social Committee for their hard work, to Tommy Roland and his band "Overdrive," and to our many sponsors.
On Thursday, June 11, HCAR will be offering a class on credit scoring, entitled "What You Don't Know About Credit Can Hurt You." Also enclosed is our Regional Education Calendar for your use.
As I mentioned in my last report, we just completed one of the most successful legislative sessions ever-at least from a REALTOR® perspective. I have enclosed a summary of the year from MAR Legislative Committee Vice Chair Ilene Kessler. Your RPAC dollars are being well spent on promoting our legislative agenda in Annapolis. Please visit www.mdrealtor.org to learn more about our legislative victories.
Are you interested in serving as a director of a successful and innovative realtor organization? HCAR is looking for a few good leaders to keep our momentum going in this new millennium. A nomination form is attached for your use. Your association wants YOU!
Do you know anyone who is worthy of being selected as HCAR's REALTOR® of the Year or Distinguished Sales Associate? If so, please submit his or her name to us for consideration. We will also honor our REALTOR® members who contribute to their respective communities through our Community Service Award. MAR has added a new award called the President's Cup for a REALTOR® member with a minimum of five years in the business, who provides continuous, dedicated service to the industry to enhance the quality of the profession.
HCAR is pleased to announce that our membership directory and monthly sales statistics are now online at www.hcar.org. If you would like to access the membership directory, you must know your NRDS number from NAR which you can obtain by logging on to www.realtor.com. You then must enter your last name and first two letters of your first name, e.g. baseely for Barb Seely, under "username" and your NRDS number under "password." Once we have verified your membership you will be allowed to establish your own password for your future entry into this part of the web site.
I have also enclosed an article by Al Monshower on the legal and ethical issues involved in receiving and presenting multiple contract offers. Please read it carefully and I wish you continued success in this great market! Til next time...
