It has been said that "time flies when you're having fun" and I can't believe that my year as your president is drawing to a close. I want to thank our members for giving me the opportunity to serve as your first president of the new millennium. I have truly enjoyed working with our directors, committee members and our neighboring associations. I want to thank Ramon and the GCAAR staff for making this year so easy for me.
The members of HCAR extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Baker and Carmichael families for your recent loss. Our prayers are with you in your time of grief.
The 1st Annual HCAR Golf Classic was a great success! What a beautiful day for golfing and socializing with our members over a barbecue lunch. The silent auction for RPAC was very successful, too. Thanks to Tom Pirritano and his committee for a job well done, and to our affiliate member sponsors of the event. We couldn't have done it without you!
And now it's time to turn over the leadership of HCAR to Blaine Milner, our incoming President. Please join us on Friday, October 6th at 8 a.m. at the Ten Oaks Ballroom for our annual meeting and installation of officers. Please reserve your place. The Nominating Committee, chaired by Ilene Kessler, has recommended the following slate of officers and directors to the membership:
President - Blaine Milner
President-Elect - Anne Cooke
Treasurer - Rick LaRocca
Past President - Barb Seely
Director - Melvina Brown (2 year term)
Director - Janet Gregory (2 year term)
Director - Shirley Matlock (2 year term)
Director - Sue Pakulla (2 year term)
Continuing Directors:
Patty Smallwood (1 year term)
Michael Ball (1 year term) |
The Education Committee is presenting a class on September 21st entitled "Home Inspections and Home Warranties." A sign-up sheet is attached for your use. Don't forget to join us for R.E.N.O. Day 2000, scheduled for November 2nd. Our featured speaker will be Al Monshower who will discuss cases and "You be the Judge."
Mark your calendar for the "Real" Millennium Ball on Saturday, October 21st at Cattail Creek Country Club. We received rave reviews from our members who attended last year so don't miss out this year on the great food, dancing and fun. Please contact Dave Leonard, Sara Lenes, or Kathy Smith for details.
It's dues renewal time and I am pleased to report that your board of directors has decided to keep the dues at $170 for the fourth year in a row! This is unprecedented and reflects the fact that our model is working and we thank you for supporting us. We are 768 members strong and we thank those of you who rejoined us this past year. Don't forget that you can renew your dues online at www.hcar.org.
I hope to see everyone at the MAR Annual Convention in Ocean City.
