First, I would like to thank our Spring Fling Committee, under the direction of Jane Burckhardt from Lakeview Title, and our
sponsors for a GREAT event! Please take the time to thank them, too! We rely on this non-dues income to underwrite our association's activities and services throughout the year.
One of the most value-added items on our HCAR website is the HOA Locator feature. When our members need to find out who is the management company, they can turn to this feature to obtain the information that they need for their transaction. Its effectiveness relies on our members keeping the information up to date, so please forward to us any new information so we can revise it quickly in order to maintain its timeliness. I'd like to thank those of you who have emailed us updates in the past. All of our members benefit from your conscientiousness.
I'd like to point out that REALTORS® have been giving back to our community again. This time, REALTORS® are working with high school students who speak English as a second language. Several teams of REALTORS® have volunteered to provide financial literacy training to these students at Wilde Lake High School, Oakland Mills High School, and Hammond High School. I am pleased to join the following HCAR members in this project: Leslie Greer, Suzi Padgett, Ilene Kessler, and Patty and Kenny Smallwood.
Next, I would like to a make a note about our new office, which is being remodeled. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned for mid-Summer. Judi Stull chairs the Decorating Committee and committee members have been diligent with the details of the renovation. This new space for the association will be a great member service, as we anticipate hosting our smaller-sized classes there. We will have a REALTOR® store and we will provide lockboxes and keys. Our excitement is growing as we get closer to visualizing the final "look and feel" of our new office.
We have received a number of requests from our members about the operating budget for HCAR. I am pleased to report that the directors have decided to place it in the "Members Only" section of our website. You may view the 2007 budget there and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
MRIS reported having a wonderful year this past year at its Annual Shareholders Meeting on April 26. MRIS has invested some of its money in purchasing land near its current location and is developing it into a new building/headquarters. A transaction management system is being released to subscribers in the second quarter. MRIS staff will implement the strong authentication access feature by issuing security fobs to subscribers during the third quarter.
