Please attend the public hearing TONIGHT on proposed legislation which would require disclosure of annual property taxes in specified advertisements for residential property being sold in Howard County. Advertisements falling under this legislation would include certain printed sales materials as well as many property information listings made available on the Internet.
The proposed legislation is just over 4 pages. Please take the time to read carefully. This is an early sample of the bill provided to HCAR. It may be amended or altered before the hearing, and also after the hearing.
Howard County Bill 13-10: Sales of Residential Property -
Disclosure of Annual Property Taxes
Tonight's public hearing is being hosted by Howard County's state delegation. This is an opportunity to hear and comment on local legislation which can impact homeownership and our industry before it is considered and perhaps voted on to become law, in the 2010 General Assembly session beginning in January.
Mark Feinroth from the Maryland Association of REALTORS® will be testifying regarding the bill, and representatives from our HCAR leadership will also be there. Please take the time to be informed and speak up with your opinion, or come and hear details about this legislation.
The hearing starts at 7:30 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, November 24, at the Board of Education building, Board Rooms A & B, at 10910 Route 108 in Ellicott City.
