David Vane was awarded this year's David E. Maclin Humanitarian Award.

This award, new in 2008, was established by the 2007 Executive Committee to pay tribute to one of MAR's Leadership Academy Alumni, David E. Maclin, who passed away in 2007. David was very active at both his local association (Prince George's) and MAR.

Establishment of the award criteria was delegated to the Leadership Academy class of 2002 (David's class), who adopted the criteria that the class themselves would select the award recipient; and, that each class participant would be asked to select someone in their class who best embodied "Cherish The Moment", the inscription David chose to reflect his presidency; and, to provide a brief statement as to why they were selected.

This award is intended to pay tribute to David, his commitment to involvement, his willingness to lead and his belief in personal involvement, all qualities the Executive Committee, in establishing the award, hopes those in the Leadership Academy aspire to achieve.
