SentriLock Lockbox Conversion FAQs

  1. What should I do if I did not receive an email from SentriLock regarding the conversion, or I inadvertently deleted the message?
Contact SentriLock Support Services at 1-877-736-8745 - press option 1 for support, and then the * key and option 3 for instructions on registering online for the conversion or to register by phone.

  2. Will my existing Supra Lockboxes be exchanged on a one for one basis?
Yes - provided the lockboxes are registered in the system under your name, and/or you can produce adequate documentation prior to the conversion that you own the boxes being exchanged. Documentation must include the serial number of the box.

  3. What if there are boxes registered in my name, but I cannot locate the boxes or the boxes have been discarded?
The exchange requires that for each new box you receive, you must return a Supra box, either an AEII or an iBox.

  4. I have lockboxes that were given to me and I have no idea where the original owner is now. What should or could I do, to be able to do the one for one exchange?
Prior to the conversion, you should email a list of the serial numbers of the boxes in your possession to ppaciotti@mris.com, to confirm your ownership and whether or not the box is registered in someone else's name. If ownership cannot be determined or verified prior to the conversion, a determination on the status of the boxes, and whether they are eligible for exchange, will be made after the conversion, when MARS will have a more accurate count on the number of boxes that have been exchanged.

  5. Will I be able to purchase new boxes at the conversion, aside from those I am exchanging?
No. In order to assure that there are enough boxes to complete the box exchange with existing box owners, boxes will not be sold at the conversion. You will have to make arrangements to purchase additional boxes at the Association office after the conversion period. Order forms for boxes will be available at the conversion site, but the boxes will not be available for pickup until after the conversion is complete.

  6. Do I have to go to the exchange site that has been set up for the Association where I have my primary REALTOR® membership?
Yes. You must attend the conversion and training at your primary association. The reason you must go to your association site, is because the cards are personalized and pre-printed with your name.

  7. Will keyboxes, other than MARS boxes, be accepted at the conversion?
Yes. If you own boxes that are programmed for Anne Arundel, Prince George's or Frederick Counties or the Greater Capital Area, and they are registered in the database under your name, you will be able to exchange them at the conversion.

SPECIAL NOTE: Prince George's and Greater Capital Areas will not be converting to SentriLock until the end of 2008, so you may wish to retain some or all of the Supra boxes programmed for these areas, and extend your Supra key service, if you expect to do show properties or have listings in those areas between now and the end of the year. (See #8 below) Once these Associations convert, arrangements will be made to exchange the boxes you retained for use in the Prince George's and Greater Capital Areas.

  8. How can I continue to show houses that are on Supra boxes in Prince George's and the Greater Capital Area (Montgomery County and Washington DC), since they will not convert until later this year?
If you have a Supra DisplayKEY or eKey that was issued by MARS, your key will continue to function until March 4th. After March 4th and no later than March 14th, you will have to turn your MARS key into the Association office. Both Prince George's County and Greater Capital have made arrangements to lease agents Supra keys that can be used until these associations convert to SentriLock later in the year. The fee for this lease is expected to be under $100. More information on leasing a Supra DisplayKEY will be available at the Conversion/Training session.

If you have a Supra DisplayKEY or eKey that was issued by either Greater Capital or Prince George's, you can retain the key and simply pay the prorated Supra invoice that Supra will be sending you.

  9. What if I am out of town during the scheduled conversion period, or some other emergency precludes my attendance?
You will have to contact the Association office after the conversion event and schedule an appointment at the Association office in order to pay for and pickup your SentriLock equipment, exchange your boxes and receive training. Prior to obtaining your SentriCard, you will be able to show properties with SentriLock boxes on them by contacting the listing broker or showing contact, and obtaining a one-day showing code for the property.

  10. I am part of a team. Does each individual team member have to subscribe and secure his/her own SentriCard?
Yes. Each team member must subscribe to the service sign a contract, pay the annual fee and secure his/her own card. This is not a new policy. It has always been a MARS policy that electronic keys are not to be shared, and this will remain true with the SentriCards as well. Team members must attend the training and pick-up their own SentriCard.

  11. Can team members share SentriLock boxes?
Yes. Boxes can be jointly owned and used by all team members.

  12. The SentriLock on-line sign-up and payment system asks for shipping address. Will the equipment be shipped to me?
No! You must go to your designated conversion location, attend the training session and exchange your equipment. Your equipment will be at the conversion site.

  13. I have Supra boxes on active listings. Do I have to bring these boxes with me to the conversion?
No! Provided you've registered and pre-paid for the SentriLock service, you will be able to receive a sufficient quantity of SentriLock lockboxes at the conversion to place on those active listings in advance of returning all of your existing Supra equipment and boxes. This has the benefit of allowing you to make only one trip to the listing to remove the lockboxes. It also ensures that your listing will not have a gap in lockbox coverage. You will need to bring your DisplayKey and any boxes not in use with you on the day you have registered for the conversion. After the new boxes have been placed on your listings, you must return the DisplayKey, the charging cradle and all remaining Supra boxes to a designated drop off site.
