  • Nov. 1st - Payments due
  • Dec. 1st.- $50 late fee assessed
  • Jan. 1st ’25- $100 reinstatement fee assessed
 

REMINDER: Refund, Late & Reinstatement Fee Waiver Policy

Effective June 1, 2023

HCAR’s Board of Directors has approved a new refund policy, which allows for a window of time during which members may receive a refund of dues paid for the coming year. Beyond this window, there are no refunds. In addition there are no waivers of the late fee or reinstatement fee if you miss the November 1st deadline and the 30-day grace period already granted.
 
The association’s previous refund policy, per our bylaws, stated there were no refunds unless a special exception was granted by the Board of Directors. The new policy empowers association staff to immediately process your refund request, so long as it is received within the specified window of time. However, the Board of Directors will no longer allow appeals or pleas outside of the window of time. The below new policy was carefully and thoughtfully drafted, taking into consideration the existing refund policies of other local associations, our state association, and the national association, as well as the needs of HCAR’s membership.
 
HCAR’s Refund Policy

Effective June 1, 2023

Prior to November 1st, 2025, 2026 Dues which have been pre-paid for next year may be refunded – less the application fee and RPAC investment, if applicable, as well as a $50 service fee – if the license is sent back to the Maryland Real Estate Commission (MREC) prior to November 1. To be eligible for the refund, the refund must be requested in writing by the member within 30 days of the license being returned to MREC. The Board of Directors will not adjust the November 1 deadline for any reason. There are no refunds after November 1. There is no refund or waiver for late fees and reinstatement fees.
