Annapolis, MD, October 14, 2021 - Cleveland L. Horton II, a REALTOR® with Keller Williams Realty Centre and Secretary of the Howard County Association of REALTORS® (HCAR) Board of Directors, graduated from the 2021 Maryland REALTORS® Leadership Academy.
Horton is one of 18 REALTORS® across the state to graduate from this year’s program.
The Maryland REALTORS® Leadership Academy was formed by REALTORS® who understand the important role they play in their community and the need to enhance the leadership skills, knowledge, and competencies of fellow REALTORS® interested in making a difference in their personal lives and in their communities.
The Academy offers an intensive curriculum designed to develop skills in leadership, communications, strategic planning, legislative and government affairs, community involvement, and interaction. Classes are conducted over seven months and stress the value of professional and personal commitment to business, charitable, and civic endeavors.
“We are incredibly proud of Cleveland for working hard to complete this rigorous program,” said Newly Elected 2022 HCAR President Sarah Anderson, who is a past graduate from Leadership Academy. “The knowledge he gained will not only benefit him in his already successful career as a REALTOR®, but it will also benefit HCAR, as Cleveland is an invaluable leader in our association.”
Horton has been a member of HCAR since 2016. He joined the HCAR Board of Directors in 2020 as an appointee and is serving this year as Secretary of the Board. He’s previously served as a member of HCAR’s Budget & Finance Committee and Fair Housing Committee, and this year, he is serving as chair of HCAR’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
Beyond his work with HCAR, Horton serves as the Social Equity Ambassador for Keller Williams. He also serves on the Executive Leadership Team of the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, where he has helped secure over $15 million for victims of unlawful discrimination.
