Columbia, MD (October 20, 2021) - The Howard County Association of REALTORS® (HCAR) participated in the REALTORS® Are Good Neighbors Volunteer Days during the month of October, giving local Realtors® an opportunity to showcase the time and effort they've dedicated to the Howard County community. In partnership with the National Association of Realtors^®, Realtors^® in Howard County are being encouraged to join in on the nationwide philanthropic initiative while maximizing the impact of their volunteer time.

 

Columbia Community Care is an organization in Howard County that provides essential supplies to local families in need every Saturday morning between 9AM-12PM. Local's are able to volunteer, drop off donations, or do both at one of Columbia Community Care's three Grab n' Go sites: Oakland Mills Middle School, Long Reach Village Center, and Wilde Lake Interfaith Center.

 

“Across the country, almost 75% of all Realtors^® volunteer monthly in their community. Giving back is part of who we are as both people and as professionals,” said HCAR President Shirley Matlock, CRS. “Together with NAR, we have encouraged local Realtors^® who have a heart for service and a passion for giving back to participate in this initiative."

 

As part of Realtors^® Are Good Neighbors Volunteer Days, which was held during the week of September 28, NAR is encouraged associations, brokerages and Realtors^® nationwide to organize and participate in a local volunteer activity of their choice, and log their hours in the Realtors^® Are Good Neighbors program. The initiative is part of a yearlong campaign developed by NAR’s 2021 President Charlie Oppler.
